What is this?

Empai Tirkosu is the setting of a solo role-playing game that’s been ongoing since summer 2016. This website is an archive for all (some) of the stuff I create for it.

In this setting, eleven fundamental elements make up the foundations of the world. Tirkosu itself is an artificial plane that draws on these forces to exist. It takes the form of a tropical island containing a patchwork of biomes, and a mutable, ever-changing geography. Its denizens reside within “plane-stable” zones, areas where the terrain is static enough to build villages; like mini-islands themselves within a sea of turbulence. This leaves the wilderness open for unending exploration – and danger.

Beneath the island lies a twisted mess of tunnels, drawing energy from the plane of shadow. Sinkholes formed by the shifting terrain often let dangerous creatures loose upon the surface. Tirkosu is a gorgeous place to explore, and full of surprises; but you don’t want to be caught outside after sunset.

Thankfully it’s also one of the most technologically advanced spots in all the plane. Airships ferry
cargo and travellers from village to village. Crystal-powered golems guard the larger settlements. Mages and arcane mechanics carve runes into reality to harness the magic of the elements. And those that face danger are rewarded with a deeper connection to the fundamentals themselves, gaining power to wield as guardians of the elements: becoming Tsethem.
